Polaris Delivery and Prep Charges

Recommended Posts

I technically ordered a four wheeler from Suzuki and back in 07 and they assembled it from the crate and have it to me that day and I didn't pay a dime for prep or anything. Just the cost of the atv

Prep charges from a Dealer are not standard at all. It all depends on what they can get away with. When I was a Polaris Dealer in the 80s I figured, if you were buying a new product from me why charge you anything more as "Prep Charge" although Polaris recommended it. I would always make up the small cost of prepping the bike when you come back for parts, labor, accessories, or incidentals. Always haggle lol

^^^ This is it in a nutshell, they charge what they can get away with. They don't have to but they want every $ they can possible get from the customer. IMO power sports dealers are worse then car dealers, they think the customer is a sucker to be exploited in any way they can. e.g. $200+ for an oil change.

The dealer I bought my 2016 RZR 900 EPS from did not charge any setup fee's and made a point of telling that. The other 3 dealers in my area all charged a setup fee and it was non-negotiable as far as they were concerned.

My advice, avoid the big dealers and look for a smaller dealer who does not have the massive overhead.
