Question

Good Morning and thank you for taking the time to review my post.
Recently my 07 Tahoe LT had a service four wheel drive message displayed, the codes were C0306 and C0327.
After researching the codes I found two possibilities.
1 - The front actuator, which I replaced with an oem actuator.
There is more to this event though. When trying to replace the actuator, which was installed December 2nd 2013, the actuator broke off at the threads of the axle housing with very little effort / force, it appears to me to have been a defective unit.
Please view the attached photos.
When the actuator broke in half, there was a thin shaft, 4 or 5 washers, a spring and a half moon machined piece that came out as well.
I am hoping that these were internal components of the actuator that when the actuator receives power from the transfer case encoder motor the components then move forward to advance the front differential so that both front wheels are in drive. Let's hope I am correct, if not I am looking at the front differential actuator pieces that fell out.
2- The transfer case encoder motor oem remanufactured AC Delco unit was installed recently. Please do not try to do this with the drive shaft in place. I found out the hard way that it is very time consuming and difficult to do at my home with no lift equipment to assist in the replacement.
Finally got the encoder motor in and the Transfer Case Switch has the "N" (Neutral Light) lit, plus the Stabilitrak Off Message and Traction Control Message are now displaying with the Service Four Wheel Drive message.
I'm hoping that the system just needs to be reflashed, but have ordered a new OEM Transfer Case Switch and am looking for a Transfer Case Control Module as well to install.
The reasoning is that if I replace both the TCCM and the Transfer Case Switch on the dash I can basically eliminate most if not all of the external components except for the wiring harness.
I have checked the ground wire to the frame and cleaned it off as well and have removed the fuses for the four wheel drive TREC and ATCM for a few minutes hoping to wake up communications between the TCCM and the encoder motor assembly.
If anyone has any input that can help guide me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
Am I on the right track or have I gone astray?
