'New' toy

Recommended Posts

I seem to have a cycle of hanging on to my trucks for 10 years. That time has happened once again as I dropped major coin for a '15 early production Denali HD with the 6.0 motor. It already comes levelled and with a Flowmaster dual side exhaust and I'm already thinking of what else to do real soon.

What I did notice is the weight/build/gas consumption of this beast. Does 18L/100kms on the highway sound reasonable (going at 125 kmh)? The truck only has 6000 kms on it so it's not even broken in yet. My '05 5.3L was getting the same distance but on the 94L tank vs the 133L tank. I'm loving every minute I get with it. Being levelled I have to practise judging my front corners since the hood is literally 4'+ off the ground!!

The 6.0 is not known for getting good mpg there is a thread about 6.0 mpg. 12 - 14 mpg town and 16 highway is expected. If you drive 68 - 70 you may eek out 18mpg. These are US ratings. It should get 1 mpg better one you get more miles 20k or more.

The duramax is know to get 14 town and 20 regularly on highway. Some people have seen up to 24 on highway driving 68 - 70 MPH. but the duramax costs 8k more here I the US. That will buy you A LOT of gas for the 6.0.

I find it a lot easier to drive faster with the 6.0 - I've been cruising along at 78 mph on average and getting a little over 13 mpg. I love the truck regardless and will consider it a right to passage.

When I drive my 1500 with the 5.3 it feels like a pocket rocket - so much lighter, nimbler and quicker throttle response compared to the current (professional grade) tank :ughdance:

I'd add the new style power folding tow mirrors.

Surprised to see a '15 and not a '15.5 for sale on the lot, I have not seen on that didn't have the power fold chrome mirrior caps in a while.

Nice truck!
