Third Brake Light Not Working

jeffhogg99

Question

We recently bought a 2003 Yukon XL. We found out the high mounted brake light doesn't work. I purchased a replacement thinking it would be an easy fix. It's been anything but. The new light didn't work either. I checked all the fuses (at least the ones I knew to check) and wires. Everything seems fine as far as I can tell. I recently had it serviced and had the mechanic look at it as well. He wasn't able to fix it but did determine the light is good and there is a good ground. There is just no power getting to the plug at the back. Any suggestions on how to find the problem? I've already invested way too much time on this.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Did you check the VEH CHMSL fuse in the Instrument Panel Fuse Block?

Yes. And I checked the one's under the hood. Does anyone know where the wire that the light plugs into at the back go? I haven't been able to trace it to see if there might be a break somewhere.

Thanks for the suggestions.
