Tahoe 2015 Z71 not very stable in rain?

Hi guys, so I have had my Z71 for about 4-5 months. I notice that every time I drive in the rain.. its not fun. It slips a little bit even on 4 high, gusts of wind can definitely be felt and at times are scary. The car is not as stable as my previous Nissan Armada. Just curious is it the tires? or the height? Any one have any thoughts? I am a little scared what will happen in Winter (live in Michigan)

Shouldn't be a big difference in ride from your Armada (same class), gusts of wind and a SUV doesn't go well together regardless of the weather, so height may have a little bit to do with it. If it happens to rain in California, I did notice a larger tire and wheel package doesn't drive as well over pooling water.

Friend in in service management of a GMC dealer here in Upper Michigan. He says those that buy 22 inch tires live to regret it when winter comes. Many of the SUV even with 20 inch come with tires that suck in anything but clear dry weather. People want the looks of bigger/wider tires but get disappointed when they realize they mostly suck in rain and snow. The wider the tire, the worst it is for traction.

The stock Goodyear RSA tires are terrible in wet weather.

Those Wrangler SR-A don't instill a lot of confidence in the wet. I lived with those on my HD for about 3 years until they wore out. They actually did ok in dry snow, but did't clear very well in wet slushy snow. I'll get rid of those on the Tahoe--probably for either the Silent Armors or AT KO2 when time comes.

The SRA's are not that well thought of - typical OE tire.

I'm planning on immediately swapping out the Z71 OE SRA's for Michelin LTX AT2's, as I need an AT tire. If I were to stay with an AS, I would pick the LTX MS2. Consumer Reports also selected both of these favorably.
