Perhaps due to the production challenges Ford faced when it switched to aluminum-intensive construction on the F-150, perhaps it is the 85 Benjamins that Chevy is reportedly piling on the hoods of Silverados to lure buyers, maybe both. Regardless, the combined sales of the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra exceeded those of the F-150 in June.

Ford sold 55,171 F-series trucks in June. GM sold a combined 70,166 Sierras and Silverados. Year to date, GM is also now ahead. Ford has sold 357,180 trucks year to date (July 1st), down just slightly over last year. GM however, has sold 376,672 full-size trucks, up solidly over 2014. Adding in the highly successful return of the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon mid-size trucks (57,000 units combined YTD), it is very clear that at least so far this year, GM is the U.S. truck king. And it is not even a close race.
