Turning my 2015 SLT Yukon into a Denali. Exterior modification

Recommended Posts

I purchased a 2015 SLT Yukon for my wife. She was having trouble with a bigger size truck being that she is 5'3. Got her a new cross over and kept the Yukon for myself. I swapped the factory 20" for the 22" denali stock. Changed the front grille and added the chrome side molding. Anyone know how to make the SLT look more like a Denali? Would really appreciate some feed back.

I ordered that same rear trim, but I have not installed it yet. I also ordered the OEM chrome molding but I can't find installation dimensions anywhere on-line. The GM instructions that came with the molding are for a 4 dr Sierra P/U . The instructions state that the molding should be placed 13mm below the body line, but the Yukon I am pretty certain has different body lines. What did you use as a measurement to install the moldings?

Thanks - Matt

Funny. You're dressing yours up and I'm dressing mine down. I removed the "DENALI" lettering from both sides of my Yukon and am thinking of removing the chrome side mouldings on the sides as well. The cheese grater grill doesn't do anything for me either - less is more for me. I personally don't like how some automobile manufacturers advertise trim levels, especially GMC. I don't drive a Denali. I drive a Yukon. And people don't need to know what options I paid for.

For me, I bought the Denali purely for the 6.2L/8-speed combo. And I LOVE IT! The mag ride is nice too, as Dr. Ice pointed out. And the customizable display. And ANC. And Bose CenterPoint. And the HID lights.

Paint the internal cheese grater grille area black. Or plastidip it... Either let the GMC logo "float" within the black background (maybe change the red in the letters to black, too) or remove the logo entirely. Make 'em guess. hehehehe
