Diablosport In-Tune

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I just purchased a DiabloSport In-Tune for my 2009 GMC Sierra 5.3L

I have a few mods on the truck as follows: K&N CAI, Magnaflow Muffler connected through the factory pipes and just recently some larger Toyo MT tires size: 33/1250R-20/10

I'm looking to turn the AFM off and set the tune for performance. I'd also like to add the new tire size to the tune but I'm not sure how to do this.

I'm not the most savvy mechanic and changing the rev points seems pretty complex. Can any of you guys give me some suggestions?

Those Diablo Sport tuners and any other big box store 'tuner' are very basic.

Those one size fits all style canned tunes are designed to work for all engines no matter the vehicle. The problem with that is no two engines are identical in performance.

That Diablo tuner may improve some things a little but nothing comparable to the performance gains you will see from a true custom tune. There are guys that actually have the DS software and can make a custom tune that is a little more specific for your truck.

DiabloLew is who people seem to give good reviews, stay away from others because there are a few.

I've used the In-tune before on my Challenger for a basic performance tune but entering the tire size / changing the rev points seems a lot more complicated.

So I just feed this guy some info from my truck and he makes me a custom tune ? That sounds pretty cool! Is it expensive to have him do this?

His website should have all the information you will need, including price for a tune. It explains the logging procedure and how to send the needed files through your email. Not that difficult really. All you need to do is follow the step by step instructions.

Just be ready to put miles on your truck and keep sending logs because it seems you have to do a lot of them for some reason with the Diablo tunes.

I had a tune done by a DS tuner and it seemed like a shit ton of driving and logging needed to be done, and several hundred miles for some reason.

The guy from Black Bear told me a couple of days ago $599 to do a custom tune for my truck. ('13 Sierra 1500 5.3)

That isn't just a tune price, that number seems to include the AutoCal device also.

The basic DS tune on my '13 was effective. The best quarter mile time with a full tank of fuel, and my almost 300lb ass is 15.5@91mph. Stock was mid 16's. The truck's drivability was quite noticeable compared to the stock tune, which went bye bye at 1k miles.

Thanks for all the info guys!

I spent a couple hours today getting the In-Tune dialed in. I selected the Diablotune and customized it a little. Turning the AFM off along with the torque management. Adjusted the tire size to my new wheels and even changed the gear ratio to match my truck. I'm pretty pleased overall but wow, the touchscreen on this one was pretty bad. Spent a lot of time trying to make the buttons interact with me. The screen calibration seemed off but whatever it worked. Im thinking in the future I might have to have DiabloLew make me a custom tune but for now it's pretty decent.

The touch screen is pressure sensitive NOT heat sensitive haha. It is a little clumsy. Have you regeared your truck?

Nope, it's all factory. I had code GU6 I believe, 3.42 was the ratio that I changed it to.

It wasn't already set to 3.42 for you? To be honest I never checked the gear ratio because I just assumed it would be setup for my truck already. I have the same gears as you. I have a mission for tomorrow!

I think it was set at 3.73 and I changed it to 3.42
