Quote from local off road shop

Recommended Posts

New truck should be in at the end of August so got a quote from a local off road shop for Bilstein leveling kit, new tires/wheels and exhaust. I'm mechanically inclined so am working with Dealership to determine what exactly I can and cannot do that will void any warranties but got the whole job quoted out anyway and was blown away by it to say the least. In about 10 mins of searching online I saved myself almost $1,000 in parts. From what I've read on here it sounds like Dealership has been installing leveling kits so might be able to work something out with them? Just wondering what people are paying for similar parts/install? Do you really need the speedometer calibrator? Guy at shop was saying it also adjusts the body roll parameters to keep the truck from applying brakes and cutting throttle safety feature like if you are doing something such as hitting an on ramp with new lift/tires (ie Higher center of gravity = more body roll)

"Labor - Lift install" line covers all 4 Bilsteins and Body Lift.

Yeah it is amazing what a little research can do. After all the quotes I got I shopped online and also saved myself about a thousand bucks for everything. Took a bit longer which required patients that are running very thin but come this Friday I will be done with the adventure of getting a 6" BDS for my truck.

With what you listed (I saw more detail in the email notification), I'm guessing you're going to void your warranty right out of the gate with the programming of the speedo and calibrations. (at least void any issues in that area)

I'd start with muffler delete, if that doesn't work for you try different known mufflers at a bender. For a level I removed the blocks in the back and left a little rake. I have the money I just don't like to spend it, maybe that's why I'm retired at 59.

$1700 for exhaust? Is it made of gold or are their labor times made of gold? You can score a Corsa, Magnaflow, Borla catback system and put it in yourself for $700-$1000 cheaper. Heck you can have it installed and still be a lot less than $1700.

I would run away. $1700 for an exhaust install? Plus $1000 for a Gibson exhaust, highest price for a gibson on autoanything is $540. That's $2700 for your exhaust, $2200 to install??. To install a level and body lift....$800..... My shop charged me $200 to install 2.5" level, that's $600 to install body lift.

I priced the Bilslstein 5100s at $100 each and a local shop quoted me $166 including tax to install them (no alignment included), so $370 total, plus alignment I ended up getting the Rancho QuickLifts for the front for $320 delivered and they took me about 3 hours to install- if I could have found my deep 15mm socket, it would've been half that. $550 for the four Bilstein shocks is pretty dang high, and the $808 to install them is insane. I had them installed on my last Tundra and it ran me $350 =/-.

For some reason, the quote brought this to mind:

I think the format is wrong somehow in that blurp of info. I hope it's $85 Labor Exhaust Install.

$1700 to install exhaust? $270 for speedo calibration? Both those look high. Others can chime in On rest.

Check original post, was able to get attachment uploaded. I tried to delete the copy of the list but I guess Raw was able to grab it and try to piece it together. Sorry for computer issues earlier.

Prices look better. I'd still be concerned about the speedometer calibrator, find out what brand it is for $270. If its a handheld you can actually adjust your tune and/or have tunes sent to you I can get behind that. If it's just a charge for them to calibrate and thats it, i call BS
