After a couple of days, I braved the TX 105 degree heat and put on a couple of mods:

undercover swingboxes for storage (my wife wanted to know why I would ever drill into a perfectly good new truck)....

shorty 9" antenna:

Up next is bedrug and body colored door handles....

Changed out chrome door handles to body colored ones - I didn't have the GM tool so I improvised with wire to pull up the spring - took about 20 minutes for the first one, and then about 3-4 minutes for each of the others after I got the hang of it! Much cleaner look IMHO....now I gotta do those mirror caps, if I can find some. I may just order them and get them painted here locally...

Driver's side handle installed - didn't realize how nice it was to have that until it was in...

Great looking truck. GM is such bastards for color matching the front end except for the bumper!

totally agree - oh, you can get a summit white bumper if you get the All Terrain, but you can't get the All Terrain with the options I wanted, and there's no way to trick the system when ordering. Soooo...going to have to go a different route like wrapping the bumpers...oh, you can get the white bumpers on their elevation work truck that retails for 15-20k less...

Yeah there packages can be a little confusing but hell at the end of the day color matching bumpers isn't a big deal. The big victory for you in my opinion is getting a crew cab with the 6.2L and a standard bed. That would be the exact crew cab I would purchase.

  • 2 weeks later...

AFE air intake Mementum GT with dry air filter - definitely makes a little more noise, but love getting the big plastic cover with the helmholtz resonator off...

Finally for this weekend, updated the knobs in the interior with American Brothers Designs dress up knobs - really like the look and the feel - they are well made...
