2006 Sierra 4x4 to AWD conversion...HELP!!!

Recommended Posts

I have a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71 4x4 ext cab I am converting to AWD.

I have ordered the NV-149 transfer and front differential out of a 2005 Cadillac Escalade with the drive shafts. Also the LQ9 6.0, But that's another topic for another day.

What I need help with is, is there more than just switching the transfer and front diff? is there a computer or a wire harness that need to be added or swapped? is there computer programming needed after the swap? Any help is appreciated.

The 149 is a viscous coulpling transfer case. The 4L65E uses the same connections as the 60E. For best info i have to direct you to the build section of silveradoss.com. look for one by the user 1bad2k i think. He is doing the swap on a regular cab.
