Question

I have a 2015 3500 with the integrated electric brake , when hooking up to my fifth wheel rv all works great , but when I hook up to my gooseneck trailer I have no brakes just a message to check the trailer connection , we hook my trailer to another truck with a ad on brake box and the trailer brakes work fine , I don't under stand why my truck isn't working on my goose neck

Have zero hands on experience with brake controllers but if it was me I would check the plug on the trailer and see if all the wires are in the correct spots, and that they are all present. The integrated controller may have a dedicated ground wire in the harness that your goose-neck does not. Aftermarket controllers may use the chassis as the ground wire. Counting on the ground to be passed through a greased connection is not very stable, and I can see GM using a dedicated ground just for that reason.

Electric over Hydraulic brakes on Gooseneck? Owners manual states Factory brake controller is incompatible with Elect Over Hydr.

2015 system works with most electric over hydraulic. From owners manual:

Integrated Trailer Brake Control System

The vehicle may have an Integrated Trailer Brake Control (ITBC) system for use with electric trailer brakes or most electric over hydraulic trailer brakes.

The GMT-900 had electric trailer brake capability only. The system was revamped for K2 trucks.
