Hey guys first post here... I recently installed a flowmaster super 44 on my 2011 gmc sierra crew cab 5.3. I had them dumped before the axle since it was cheaper than running tips out the back. I recently made a 5 hour drive home this weekend (im in college) and the drone was unbearable. I love the sound, but it is just too much on the highway. My question is will dual tips reduce the drone and highway noise? Thanks for the replies!

That makes no sense at all :

"I love the sound, but it is just took much on the highway".

So you don't like it or it would not be too much. Bad news is you are going to have that annoying sound from Flowmaster no matter what you do. That's what those chambered noise makers are known for. Do yourself a favor and get a good quality performance exhaust with a straight through design. It will actually increase performance, unlike Flowmaster and it will sound good also.

I love my 44 except for when i pull my travel trailer. That is the only time that I notice the drone. I feel like it's because the sound is directly reflecting off of the front of the trailer back at the truck. Other than that, It sounds great and I've gotten allot of compliments as far as "Sounds great, but not too loud".

I'm back baby! Sold the terminator. Sworn myself to any car I ever buy again will be pre-1970! Lol just not a car guy unless it's old school!

But I like drone..... Call me weird but I've always liked it. Not like redneck hillbilly brain dead drone but everything I own is loud. Op I would sell the 44's and go with the super 40's. I believe you will like those much better.

  • 3 weeks later...

Extending out the rear will definatly help. I switched from Flowmaster to Magnaflow and drone is not nearly as bad when cruising. At steady interstate speeds in high gear I can't even hear the exhaust till a load is put on it (any acceleration).
