Black smoke

So I have an '04 LLY and a juice edge W/ attitude, I've played around with it in various settings and plenty of people have commented on how "clean" my truck runs, I've noticed it as well, I can't recall any point in time where I was leaving plumes of black smoke. I do know the "rolling coal" is just un burned fuel, and I'm completely okay with not being that moron, but I'm curious if anybody else has noticed this as well. My assumption is the EGR is the reason it doesn't dump black smoke, am I correct in this?
