Experience / Items Needed To Purchase Police Tahoe

Recommended Posts

I am in law enforcement, and am looking to purchase a 2015 Tahoe for commuting to and from work, and occasional off-duty work.

Has anyone had any experience purchasing a Police Tahoe through a dealer and getting the Police discount? I know it can be done, but wanted to see what documents people had to produce to acquire the truck. Loan approved, cash ready!

Thanks

As a non-LEO when I tried to buy a new 2015 PPV, I was denied because I did not have a purchase order from a Department or a badge number if for personal use - even if though I did not want the LEO discount.

The PPV must be purchased through a GM dealer fleet sales department with a Department Purcahse Order or badge number for individual LEOs - the discounts etc will be applied when the proper process is followed.

I ended up buying my PPV as a low mileage lease return from a New York dealer as a regular sales item.

Contact your local GM dealer fleet sales department, they will be able to hook you up.

I'm in touch with one, but with the LEO discount they are still about 39K, which doesn't seem like as much of a discount compared to the previous generation Tahoe, or the Caprice. 39K doesn't seem like much of a discount when regular base models using normal discounts can be had for 39 or 40.

Thanks for the info though sir!

I'm guessing PPV means police package vehicle ?

Si sir!

Yes, $39k does sound a bit higH, but what options did you choose?

Carpets and retail center console with cloth rear seat? Forward collision warning? Was it a 2016 or close out 2015 PPV? 4WD PPV or RWD? A-pillar spots or spot delete?

Either way I would expect numbers closer to $37k for retail console with carpets and as low as $34k for regular console with rubber floors.

I picked up my 11 month old 11,000 mile for just at $36k. This is about what new with discounts would be. Perhaps try another dealer that does bigger fleet numbers and more PPVs.
