Rookie Nav question

Recommended Posts

This is my first vehicle ever to have a nav system. It's brand new so i'm under a free trial period for OnStar. When the trial expires, will I lose the Nav capabilities, or is it seperate from OnStar?

I plan to transfer XM service from a portable I had in my old truck. I don't see a need for OnStar unless it is needed for other functions like Nav or Bluetooth, then that would sucker me into paying for a subscription. I'm so new to this new technology, I don't have a clue how any of it works.

If you register your own phone for use to do remote start while you have the Onstar Trial Period ... then your phone will still work for 6 years as a remote devise after your Onstar expires - you must use your phone at least once for it to activate for the 6 years for free during the trial period.

Ok, so I put the app on my phone and it asks for the onstar account #. I suppose I'll need to talk to the voice in my rearview mirror to settle this?
