2016 2500HD Pricing

Recommended Posts

Don't know if anyone has noticed that GM is now charging an additional $395.00 for ANY metallic paint choice. The only colors that don't include the additional charge are the flat black, white, and red.

Guess the typical $55-$60K pricing for the 2500HD's just wasn't nearly enough for GM.

I was fortunate enough to buy a 2015 2500 HD. Just for kicks, I decided to do a "build" of my exact same truck on the 2016 version.

The MSRP on my 2015 SLT with the Duramax, Driver Alert, power sunroof, 6 inch assist steps, heated and cooled buckets seats, camper mirrors, tilt steering column, wiring provision, and radiator cover (dealers always throw that in for the added profit) came to $61,769.00 with the destination charge and $1,500 "discount". The exact same 2016 truck now has an MSRP of $66,060.00 with destination charge and the same $1,500 "discount - almost 7 percent more. Insane if you ask me and boy am I glad I bought my truck last year.

I guess GM figured that since Ford raised all the prices of their new aluminum trucks GM could do the same, even though they are basically the exact same truck as last year's GMC versus Ford's all new truck.

At the current rate of increase, new HD's will be listing at almost $90K in 5 years!

Extra $ for paint is ridiculous. Pisses me off to hear this especially since as stated above, that GM is pretty mid level quality anyhow, for pickups that cost this much should be much better.

Extra for most of the 'metallic's' has been around for awhile - cars and trucks.

Not on our trucks it hasn't. I also noticed this change, kinda bs on a Denali you know have to pay extra for the same paint as '15, we all know it chips or falls off the truck, not like it is legit...

Kinda makes me fortunate that white is my preferred choice, since I live on dusty gravel roads. White tends to show dirt less than the higher end colors. Sounds goofy, but true. One of those little mysteries of life I guess.

I Must be one of the fortunate few. The difference between My online build for a late 15 and a 16 was only 1300 give or take a few pennies, which is about what I expected for a new model year with minimal changes. I have no idea where these 5-6k price jumps come from

Silverado HD: Tungsten Metallic - No Charge

Sierra Denali HD: Iridium Metallic - $395

Silverado HD: Butte Red Metallic - No Charge

Sierra Denali HD: Deep Garnet Metallic - $395

etc....

These are the exact same colors (renamed by GM for marketing purposes).

Spend $70,000 on a Sierra Denali and they charge you extra for PAINT? Buy the same truck from Chevrolet and they paint the truck for free! Crazy!

Pretty wild, considering I bought a Freightliner semi truck with 70" sleeper with Webasto built in diesel fired heater for it when truck is shut off in winter, built in refrigerator and more cabinets than I really need, Xantress inverter/battery charger for 120v power outlets in sleeper and charging batteries when hooked up to shore power or generator, air ride suspension, 18 speed trans, 12.7L 500hp 1750 torque engine, Meritor dual drive axles with full lockers, polished durabrite aluminum wheels all the way around, premium noise abatement and arctic insulation packages, air ride seats, Dupont Viper Blue Pearl Elite paint job and a deer guard up front with 4" stainless steel tubes. All for $112K ready to go to work.

So I would agree... the price for pickups is totally unjustified.
