We told you to get ready. Right on schedule, GMC is finally taking the wraps off the all new Canyon Denali at the LA Auto Show. Slated to go on sale as a 2017 model, the up market mid-size truck will have some interesting exclusive features.

Denali has long been GMC's top tier trim level. Exclusive wheels, grills, and standard everything is a given when you order a GMC Denali model. So, it's no surprise the Canyon Denali will offer a slew of premium features when it goes on sale this time next year.

Canyon Denali buyers can expect:

  • Unique 20-inch bright machined aluminum grill and wheels
  • Chrome fog lap bezels, chrome assist steps, polished exhaust tip and a spray in bedliner are standard
  • Offered in six exterior colors
  • Jet black interior featuring Mulan leather-appointed heated and ventilated seats
  • Unique instrument panel and console trim, Denali sill plates and floor mats, Denali seat logos.
  • Standard forward collision alert and lane departure warning
  • Heated steering wheel, automatic climate control and remote start
  • GMC IntelliLink with Navigation, OnStar with 4G WiFi and three USB charging ports
  • Standard 3.6L engine, optional 2.8L Duramax engine

There's no news on what the Canyon Denali will cost but considering all of the features, expect the premium to be hefty. It's even possible this truck will cost very close to $50,000.

Will it be worth it? Well, GMC is currently selling all the Denali models it can sell, So apparently, yes. Remember, GMC's Denali sub-products sell more than all of Land Rover, Jaguar, or Porsche.

The 5.3 would have been a better gas option in the Denali package and would have got better mpg than the 3.6.

I probably would have tried to shoehorn the 4.3 EcoTec3 V6 into the CD from the Full size trucks first, before attempting to fit the EcoTec3 V8 under the hood.

A 5.3L + the 8 speed would have been a guaranteed sale from me. I don't really need a full size crew cab pickup anymore but I don't want to give up the V8.

Currently a 2.8 Dmax comes out to about $40-43k. What the hell price is a Denali Canyon with a 2.8Dmax going to be? $46-50k? At these prices why not purchase a full size? At that much money fuel economy and fuel costs shouldn't break the purchasers decision.

The way GM pricing has been lately, the Denali Canyon would likely push close to the cost of a 1500 LTZ or a 1500 SLT, both loaded. I can't see how they will sell many at that price point. Sales will likely follow that of the overpriced Tahoe and Yukon, which I would gladly purchase if they drop the price closer to that of the 1500 LTZ/1500 SLT pickups. There's not a whole lot of difference there, except an enclosed rear with extra seating.

Completely off topic but since you mentioned it SUV's. Did you see GM is bringing back the HD suburban?
