Winter blend fuel. During cold weather, more butane is used in the gasoline formulation to enhance gasoline vaporization in cold weather. Higher level of Butane nets a lower mpg. Ethanol had nothing to do with the change. If one is buying E10, it is still E10. The Ethanol concentration didn't change. Some folks have such a unwarranted fear of ethanol that they will try to find any way to blame it for something. I would bet it is responsible for the increase in terrorist activity!

EPA mandates that winter blend fuel start being delivered by September 15th. It takes a while to get all distributed throughout the system, so some see it sooner than others.

Back to butane....

Even at down to 0F, I rarely let the pickup warm for more than a minute or two, even that primarily just to get oil circulating throughout the motor. Takes forever when just idling. I live on gravel roads so not trying to hit highway speeds for the first mile. I just do my normal driving down the gravel road and by the time I get to the highway, heater is blowing warm and the pickup is ready to do the normal highway stuff.

I never thought of that I havent used the defrost much but I do warm my truck up everyday for about 10 mins ...but it's only about 40 degrees for the low hell yesterday it's 69 degrees

That's huge waste and takes a long time to warm up. As others have said, driving it nicely warms it up MUCH faster. After about 30 seconds there will be plenty of oil to all the critical parts.

Check the mileage, then try one tankful without warming it up and seethe difference.
