is My 2009 GMC Sierra California Emissions Compliant

Question

Hello,

I am new here but have a question, I purchased a 2009 GMC Sierra in Michigan brand new in 2009, I am the original owner. I may be moving to California. L.A. area to be specific if that helps

Question is; How do I determine if my Truck is California emissions compliant? Is there something under the hood or some kind of a code in the glove box or a website I can go to and type in my VIN number to verify this.

Dug out my RPO list for my truck ...

It shows:

NU5 = "Emission System California, Bin 4"

NE1 = "Certification Emission, Geographically Restricted Registration For Vehicles Up To 14k lbs."

You can relocate even if it isnt. When it gets tested it will be fine. The California emissions is for new vehicles and sometimes the number of cats. You will be fine.

I don't think it matters - that only applies to new vehicles.

You'll still have to pass smog, but whether or not it's CA emissions compliant or not is irrelevant ... unless CA has gone even more commie than when I was living there 14 years ago .. which is entirely possible. :noway:

RPO codes will show what emission class it is. So will the underhood sticker. Just FYI.
