Window regulator or motor???

Recommended Posts

I have a 2004 Suburban and just recently noticed both rear windows roll up fine to the half way point then move VERY slowly the rest of the way and basically stop a couple inches short. I've done all kinds of searching and it seems all but one person replaced the regulator and motor. Do I need both or just the motor? It seems to me that replacing the motor would fix the problem because the window rolls up and down straight in the channel with no grinding noises. It looks much easier to replace just the motor so I'd prefer to do that if possible. Thoughts?

so i took off the door panel today, and was trying to figure out if its motor or reg....the window will happily go down but not go up all the way

i had to manually sandwich it with my hand while someone pressing the up switch for me to get it up, but even then i wants to drop down....tape has been applied. ....

how does one differentiate between reg and motor....thanks

oh and my issue is just one sided on the right
