Wireless Charger Voltage?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if the wireless charger in the console of the 2016 silverado uses 12v or 5v? Picked up a console lid on e bay and I'm gonna try to make it work. Any info is greatly appreciated. I also asked the same question in the suv forum..........2 days ago with no answer.

May be more than just a power thing, looks like the controller board might be in the dash as the 2016 dash display shows if it is charging

Here's the wiring diagram from the upfitter manual. It looks as if the BCM wire turns the pad on and off as it senses a device on the pad, as well as turning on the charge indicator on the infotainment screen.

You could try just hooking up the + and - and see if it charges before you install it.

Violet/Yellow - 12volt

Black - Gnd

Green - BCM (looks like a switched signal)

The green wire is the one going to Radio to turn on & off. I hooked it to a small 12v battery to test. Then I charged my phone over night on it, it comes on & works. Multi colored wire is 12v. Black is ground. Green goes to radio.

The green wire goes to the controls that will show on the radio screen to be more accurate. This is installed in my 2014 Sierra. The multi colored wire from the lid charger is hooked to the positive on the rear console 12v plug with the black to the black on it. It turns on with the key & turns off with the key, and yes if does charge my phone as such. You just don't have the radio display like in a 2016 model, because you can't connect the green wire. You have to purchase the complete charging lid as it has an off set inside for the charger, a plain lid does not.

What is the part number for the lid charger?

thanks

The lid charging module PN is 23248791 retails for $247.82

It will not fit in a standard lid, you will need the lid that is made for it or at least the bottom piece, but you can buy on Ebay & get it all cheaper than buying just the module.

An aftermarket charger fits nicely in a standard lid with no issues at all. No shortage of new take off charger lids on Ebay for much cheaper than the dealer's price if you just want to go OEM.

Yes. There are several after market chargers that work Ok also and most well under $50. However, I had one of those prior using a Samsung wireless charger on with the jump seat lid. But, I wanted it to look more GM when I installed the full console with new in lid charger system built for it.

12volts and ground. A third wire is for communication to the bcm then to the charge indicator on a '16

Do you think it is possible to hook up the indicator control wire to the bcm and have it display on the radio? Or would you not recommend adding the wire to the BCM?

My thought is that I if you can add the pin to the BCM wiring and its a simple on off sigal why wouldnt it work unless GM uses a different programming just for trucks with/without consoles. Btw I have a 2016 Silverado 1500 LTZ that I am adding the console with wireless charging. Originally had center seat
