Issues on my 2016 after Western plow install....

Recommended Posts

I need some help here folks. I had my local Western dealer install a new plow mount and new wiring harness for my 8 foot Western plow on my new 2016 2500 Denali. When I picked it up they told me the headlights (OEM HID's) were giving them problems...flickering on startup. They said they would call Western and see if a "patch" existed. Other than that all was well. I didn't drive the truck for two days. On the third day I fired her up and got a warning message saying something like 4 wheel drive was unavailable. When I tried to manually put it into 4 wheel high...nothing would happen. I took it to GMC and they said there is a ton of errors and I should bring it back to whoever installed the plow.

Any thoughts??? This is a terrible way to start-off in my new baby!!

Not Sure: but

The 2016 headlights are different than the 2015's and need a newer plow set up ... as I read somewhere ... (2016 used ballasts & Igniters)

Your installer may have used the 2015 set up ...

Thanks for the links. I've read that there is indeed a patch for the flickering headlight problem...offered by Western. I'm more concerned about the BMC errors. :tear:

BCM's can get confused and usually reset themselves after a few re-starts - or you can reset it by dis-connecting the battery for a short time - though I'd just let the pro's work on your warranted truck ...

Did you buy the patch? Did the BCM reset itself? I have a 2016 2500HD Denali I am planning on wiring up tomorrow.

All fixed. I had my installer put in the Western 2016 patch and then brought the truck to my GMC dealers to reset everything. Works great now!
