Transmission Cooler Line removal (trany side)

Recommended Posts

I have 2 GMC Sierras - my 2002 1500 trany lines are leaking and I have put off long enough replacing them. I know the trick with the "E" clips and was able to remove the radiator side fairly quickly. My issue is the trany side. The lines are pretty high up on the housing and there is little room between the cab bump and the transmission. I can barely reach the bottom line let alone the top line. Any ideas? I have actually considered pulling the carpet and cutting an access hole in the cab. I'd rather not but I may be forced to do so.

Ouch. Since I do everything outside, and it is winter in Buffalo, I may be forced to take this in for repair. Shame, as it seemed like it should be a quick repair job. Not happy with GM's design in this area. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
