Did you know that the Chevy Trax was the second best-selling small crossover in America last year? Yup, and the Buick Encore, which shares its mechanical bits was the best-selling premium small crossover. The Trax is a very important part of Chevy's entry-level vehicle portfolio and for 2017 Chevy leaves the excellent small turbo engine alone, but gives the Trax a fresh look, a new infotainment setup, and key active safety equipment.

Chevy applied the same grill and front fascia look that the Malibu, Volt, and Cruze now wear. The headlamps now wrap farther around to the fenders. Chevy says this is now its global look. There are also new LED tail lamps and a new rear fascia.

Inside, the 2016 Trax get Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The dash is new and designed to offer a feeling of spaciousness. Steve Kim, Chevrolet Trax designer, says of the new interior, “Customers will really notice the elevation in the Trax’s interior design and attention to detail. It’s an environment that transcends segment boundaries, offering rich, premium appointments and seamless integration of the technologies they rely on most.” The Trax also adds keyless open and start and 4GLTE for the new model year.

Manufacturers strive to earn the IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus rating. In order to do so the vehicles must score Good on all crash tests and also have Advanced crash avoidance technology. For 2017 the Trax gets a standard rear-view camera and these important active safety features as options:

◾Side Blind Zone Alert
◾Rear Cross Traffic Alert
◾Forward Collision Alert
◾Lane Departure Warning

The new 2017 Trax will be available this fall.

I just don't like the new front end that Chevy is going to. The only vehicles that they have left that I'm really still a big fan of are the Colorado and the SS.

I agree, but in this vehicle I do think it looks better than the past version of it. At least in pictures. We all know that in person the vehicle sometimes looks completely different.

Yea, it does fit the Trax pretty good. The one that I really dislike is the new Malibu. It looks upscale, but I just do not like anything about the front clip.
