Smartphone vs MyLink - Which is best compatible

Haven't seen this topic really covered in 1 place before. Been looking into getting a new phone and was wondering what everyone is using and if some seem to work better or have less issues than others. Not looking to start an Apple v Droid debate over this - looking for connectivity, usage, speed, etc. among different brands and phones.

Side note - Currently have an iPhone 5 and been looking at getting the new Galaxy s7 in a couple weeks, not sure how well Marshmallow will work compared to iOs.

- When charging thru USB iPhone is completely muted: if I get a call or text I don't know unless I feel it vibrate, and if I pull up anything with sound its still muted. Only plays sounds if you are in Media - USB mode. (Can I watch an instagram video or snapchat or hear a phone call while listening to XM??)

- Using iPhone as GPS, the voice direction pops up on display like a call is being made every single time.

+ Seems to always link up to bluetooth quickly.
+ Accesses songs on iPhone immediately when plugging it in.

No way to know for sure as far as Marshmallow and My Link. I have a Samsung S6 that is still running Lollipop 5.1 that I've had since November. No issues. Prior to that I had an Iphone 5 running the latest ios. The last ios update I had before I switched to the Android I very rarely would have issues with bluetooth dropping. Prior to the last update no issues with the iphone either.

I have a nexus 6p with marshmallow..rooted so I'm running rooted roms. On mylink in my 2015 it works fine. Bluetooth links up and I can play my music. My sounds are there meaning if I get a text or something. I use the mylink GPS if I need to not the phone as it'd just easier

I find that when my wife drives my truck without me, it chooses her iphone and pairs up all fine and dandy, but when I hop back in, it searches for her iphone again and won't pick up my own iphone unless I manually select my phone again. All is well until she drives without me. Both iphones on whatever is newest update. iphone 5c & 5s.

My son uses a samsung galaxy note 3 and it never interferes.

So, there's that.

Texts will display properly and you can use the canned replies with a droid... but not with an iphone.

iphone has siri pass through but google now won't work.

songs index better from music on iphone that droid.

there are pros and cons either way

Never had any "I" anything but there are far more TSB's for IPhone issues than any other phones. My S6 works ok. None are perfect. Have had a '14 and '15 with galaxy 4,5,6. There are glitches. I think there will always be glitches. Mostly notice it with Pandora. If it connects, great, but sometimes I have to get the phone out and start Pandora on the phone. Then it will work fine. Could be the phone, operating system, Pandora or the truck. I just accept it.

I was using in an HTC M8 running Marsh Mellow and the texts were slow to receive via mylink. There was no send. If I used HTC car then I could send receive texts which was similar to using google now. Bluetooth streaming via media worked fine.

I was just given an IPhone 6 and text messages are received promptly and siri is used to send texts. Media streams fine via Bluetooth. The only issue I'm having is the radio not switching back after media use, which is a known IOS9 issue.

Don't have to plug android phones in.

Don't have to plug iphones in for anything other than apple car play either... androids version isn't out yet as far as I know, and I understand that when it is, you'll have to plug in for that also. And even then, it's on 2016+ models. Only time I plugged my iphone in on my 2015 was to charge it.

Seems that it depends on the phone. When I got my truck, I had a HTC Arrive with Windows 7 as the OS. I couldn't initiate a text via voice, but once I received a voice text, everything was voice send and receive from that point on. Nothing on the MyLink screen, just all voice through the trucks Bluetooth.

Now I go newer phone and supposedly "better" technology with the Samsung Note 4, just to be disappointed by that feature not working anymore.
