2017 Ford Raptor Spotted @ Mint 400 Race

We were out at the Mint 400 Race this past weekend and Ford had on display the 2017 Ford Raptor. With loads of new features, bigger shocks and now an Ecoboost engine this Raptor is ready to battle. We like the look, what do you all think?

The 2017 TRD Pro models should be on par with Ford offering here. They have really beefed them up.

Wow, looks really good. The wheels took a step backwards though. Even if they are a 2 piece wheel, they look cheap.

Nice looking but who actually makes use of all these components that cost all this extra money? I feel like manufacturers should start looking at the middle class and build a truck that can work but haul the family around, oh.. and do it for under $25k. I find it hard to believe any middle class folks can afford to walk onto a lot and sign a loan for a $50k truck.

 

A guy who works with me has one of the first raptors and its spotless all the time. Never sees dirt...I can't blame him because it costs so damn much!

45k for a truck is insane, especially midsize. I paid $90k for my home.

 

GM, build us a stripped down version that has at least an extended cab, badge it the LTN edition. (Little to no money )

 

I hate knowing that every time I am due for a new vehicle I am always going to have to look at 5+ years old. I think every guy here who is in the same boat would love to see a stripped version available for about $18-19k out the door.

unfortunately, the days of cheap trucks are LONG Gone; the automakers are profit driven, and they way they get their profits is by selling lots of highly optioned (and expensive) vehicles. Ford has essentially gotten out of control with their pricing; a prime example is the F-150 XLT; which is ONE STEP Up from the BASE XL model, the CHEAPEST one my Local Ford Dealer has is $42,985! the Cheapest Silverado 1500 LS at Alexander CBG, is $38,450. Both Trucks have PROPER V8s in them, they Both have 4WD, but unfortunately the F-150 has the space advantage from being an extended cab, while the Silverado is only a regular cab. but don't get me started on the Luxury Trims like King Ranch, High Country, Denali, and Laramie Longhorn; those are getting into luxury car prices! (the HD trucks are EVEN WORSE!)

Like I said, as long as people are willing to pay $50k for a truck then they will keep selling them for that. In my opinion Ford has set the standard as far as this ridiculous pricing goes. They're truck prices have always been higher. They also offer all this extra needless crap that helps raise the price, and since they sell so many F-150's everyone other manufacturer wants to add their fancy features to compete which brings their prices up as well.

People want options, features, and technology, all of that costs money.

 

You guys seem to want ultra basic vehicles that offer no excitement, comfort or technology. I want heated and cooled leather seats, I want big screens in my dash loaded with features, I want engines that are not physically larger than the engines of 20 years ago, but yet they produce two to three times more power, all while using less fuel.

 

I agree that trucks are overpriced, but asking auto makers to bring back vehicles with crank windows, no A/C and no features of any kind, just isn't going to happen.

 

The middle class can get into 50K + vehicles because the terms are outrageous now, Not long ago, 4 - 5 years was the maximum you could go. Now vehicles are being sold on crazy long terms of 8 to 9 years. I am not saying it is a good idea to run out and do that, but that just shows that auto makers will do anything to extend the loans and get you into a fancy machine, long before they will build cheaper vehicles price wise.

 

A cheap vehicle can still be had. If you strictly want a car that carries your body from point A to B, and nothing else matters to you, you can get brand new cars for 10K with a full warranty. Why people are still buying old used junk, I have no idea. Asking for a cheap truck, good luck, it's the bread and butter of the big 3!

I don't want crank windows, manual locks, and no A/C. What I don't want is stupid automatic braking, front collision warning, tire pressure sensors, AFM, etc. There's a big difference between convenient features, and stupid needles features where I could just pay attention to the road, do regular maintenance, and save myself an arm and a leg when I go to buy a vehicle.

 

And who wants to pay $50k for a vehicle for 8 years? It'll be shot by then, especially since they don't focus on making the exterior hold up to anything anymore. The whole thing is a joke.

I think to myself sometimes how much cash I could have socked away if I did not have payments, insurance, fuel and maintenance expenses. I've bought two brand new trucks, one at $32k and the other at $34k that was plenty enough for me lol!
