Any ideas on 2017 1500 Z-71's?

Recommended Posts

My guess is that an aestetic approach to this is all wrong......you have to think keeping costs down and maximizing profits: lighter parts that are more easily assembled by robots and easier and more profitable for the dealer to repair using their proprietary tools - yet more costly for the owner to buy and replace. Molded and painted plastic - not heavier multi stamped and triple plated metal does not. That's why there are no more chrome bumpers or grilles on cars and the smaller and less costly line trucks. Gone are the days when you lifted a vehicle using a bumper jack!

The Z71 was the foot in the water and the front and sheet metal of the '17 will look just the same - maybe new LED tail lights. Soon to move on to the 2500/3500 and Sierras - how long depending upon feedback and competition.

Back in the day the Z-71 package was more than the appearance package, it also included hardware that the regular trucks didn't get like oil, transmission, coolant and power steering coolers. You also got the HD shocks, tow hooks and trailer package.

Now it is nothing more than a glorified appearance package.

No one brought it up because the 2017 truck specs are out. There is no diesel option for 2017 1500 trucks.

Too busy doing the new 6.6 for the 2500/3500.
