Where is the Mega Noise discussion? I have a 2016 LTZ that has been in the shop twice now for vibration and noise issues.

Dave

Hello Dave,

I am sorry to hear that your trips to the shop have not resulted in a resolution for your vibration concern. I would like to research this more on my end and provide an additional layer of assistance for you when working with your dealership. Please private message me your VIN, full contact information, current mileage and preferred dealership. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Best,

Julianne M.

I just bought a brand new 2020 Tahoe and the helicopter or buffering noise as it’s called is driving me insane!!!  What do I need to do to get a resolution to my issue before I get a lawyer involved seeing GM has known about this issue since 2015 but yet still manufactures and sells these defective vehicles???

2020’s have this same issue!!! I need help getting a resolution to this ASAP. Just purchased this brand new three weeks ago and haven’t wanted to accept that it was an on going issue but it is and anyone who rides with me agrees the noise is unbearable

The way I understand it, a 2020 model is just as likely to have the issue as a 2015, 16, 17, etc.

The issue is in the particular way the roof is attached to the vehicle on the assembly line, which hasn't changed at all since the first truck on this platform was built. As suggested, you'd probably notice it right off the bat on a test drive - but I'd say it's certainly possible for the issue to "develop" as the truck ages.

General consensus is that these trucks either have it, or they don't. Luck of the draw. If you have it, you'll probably never get rid of it even with the current GM fix. I count myself lucky as my 2016 Suburban does not have the issue at all and I'm at 65,000 miles.

By the way, LOVE Murrell's Inlet!

^ i havent read about anyone developing it after a while on road.

its definitely a have it or dont thing.

& GM cant seem to figure it out, as  there is not just 1 fix.

restabilizing the roof bows is not a fix.  it may be a band-aid ...plenty here & on other forums have verified that.

it seems to be more of a few things together...that may fix the issue.
however that is also not that case for some. GM does not have a true fix for it still, for anyone that does have the issue.

it will be an experiment & a journey w/ GM & the dealer (as GM still tries to remove their head from their sphincter) using the list of items listed in this thread.

ultimately i believe it is more of a tolerance stacking thing.

so from reading a few forums, some of the more common fixes have been:
-get rid of bridgestone tires for something quality
-road force balance wheels (rim size doesnt matter)
-change out front &/or rear driveshft

-change out front &/or rear differential
-disable AFM w/ either range device or a tune
-change body mounts (this was an update on 17's) , *** still didnt fix issue

-update roof reinforcements

take to dealer & test drive w/  service mgr & someone else. (as it seems some people arent susceptible to the noise or the GM employees have been told to ignore it ... shrug)
then have them call GM... as there really isnt a definitive fix.

do NOT accept... "that's how they all are" or "it is operating as designed"

its B.S & they know it.

you may have to try to fix it 3 times before you can involve lemon law attorney :(

cant wait to hear if GM still has the issue in the redesign or not
