I have heard there are prototypes running around, but they are basically International TerraStars with GM powertrains in them. The thing is these trucks are likely being tested in Indiana, not where the automotive journalists typically take spy photos.

Good point, Kapuskasing is THE place for cold weather testing. Probably likely, because I believe powertrain management is GM's responsibility on the new trucks.

I never realized the terrastar has hualted production back at the end of 2015 because of the engine . so from that I am guessing that is the truck maybe a nose modification and GM's duramax engine in it and that is the new truck. Unless they are building the cab from the gound up.

I wonder how long it will take them to interduce a 4x4 model you would think they would have that come out at the same time but for some reason they all wait a year or two to have that model one that every landscaper and contractor want the most . I really can't wait to see what this truck looks like but like everything else the price tag is getting ridiculous on these trucks

It would be nice if they could bring back the 8100, one of the best engines ever made for medium duty use. Plenty of low end torque to move these trucks down the road with a load.

The 8.1L is back, but now as an 8.8L:

PSI supplies the 8.8L to Navistar for school bus use, both in gasoline and propane versions. It is also used by specialty truck manufacturers as well. However, I don't think this is the gasoline engine family that GM and Navistar are planning for the JV medium duty conventional. If I had to guess, I think a larger version of the iron block LS would be most likely.
