Differences Between Canyon and Colorado?

Recommended Posts

So, my wife is finally getting tired of her 2003 Yukon (with 205,000 miles) and is wanting something new. I was trying to push her toward an Acadia or Yukon as I like having a 3-row SUV, but after riding around in my Denali she really wants a truck. We went driving around the local GMC and Chevy lots and she decided that she really likes the mid-sized twins. She likes both the Canyon AT and especially the Colorado Trail Boss.

I've been doing some research online, but wanted to start this thread to see what owners and others know about the mid twins. Specifically, what are the major differences? I know that only the Canyon has AUTO 4x4, which is something I want. But the Trail Boss is only available on the Colorado, which she wants. I think that the Canyon also has the soft dash? What are the other differences?

FYI, we plan to test drive them both over the next week or two. I'm slightly leaning toward the Canyon AT because of the AUTO 4x4 and the cheaper price. Canyon AT with Nav and Bose is ~38k MSRP and Colorado with Trail Boss is $42k - $43k. I don't know what deals can be had yet.

Thanks for the help!

Wow! Your wife has great taste...a real keeper! :). You hit the only differences I know of. The DIC was better in the Canyon for 2015, but they upgraded the Colorado's for 2016.

Thanks. We settled on a Red Colorado Z71 without the Trail Boss package. She wanted a bed cover and that Trail Boss roll bar prevents installation of a bed cover. But she got all the other options and loves it. It's a cool little truck.
