Door Molding Question

Does anyone know what the measurements are of the door moldings. I just bought the molding for my WT and it does not have it on there currently. I just want to make sure they look right. I was told 1-2 inches from the door hump, but I would rather have real numbers. If anyone could measure how far from the bottom of the door to the bottom of the trim and then the sides to the side of the door that would be awesome! Thanks in advance!

Just measured it, 18.5 centimeters from the seam where bottom of the door meets the kick plate to the bottom of the chrome molding.

I stuck the tape measure's end in the door seam gap and pulled it up to the molding is how I have measured it.

My recommendation, use clear tape (long enough where it just hangs, keep bottom untaped) and try and get it to where it is suppose to be, once it looks good, then remove the double sided tape wax paper and let go to let it meet the door.

Thanks for all the info and advice! Hopefully the trim will be here tomorrow so I can analyze what needs to be done, but if I read your advise right it sounds like that would be pretty easy. I will let you know when I get it on and post some pics. BTW I love your truck! To bad they did not continue to all-terrain in Summit White!

yeah, in sense, have it dangling with 2 piece of tape first, that way you can flip it up and remove the double sided tape's wax paper and flip it back to the right orientation.

Lets see it when it is done!

For sure! I might be a few days... Its been raining like crazy the past few days here in the great state of Texas haha. If I can tonight I will... I'm like a kid in a candy store when things come for my truck.

Is the trim in the middle of the door with equal amount of door on both sides or is the front door trim all the way to the edge on the back of the door?

Totally missed the part you need side to side, I go measure it in a bit. Just got up from bed :D

If anything, I expect them to be referenced from where the front and rear door meets, not center of the door itself. Because the trim tapers off to the front and the back. Where the two doors meets are the same thickness

That does not really tell me anything... mainly because it is such a small measurement haha. I will just try to line it up and then pull up the pic to see if it looks about right. I could probably even print it out and use it as a template to some degree. Thanks so much for all the measurements! I will post pics when I get it done!

BTW is your door seal white?

That is where front and rear door meets, that is the "gap" you are looking for.

No, all seal are black rubber tubing.

DONE!! That was the most tedious work I have done on my truck so far, but it was worth it! The pic worked perfectly as a template by the way! I attached two after shots and one before shot.

Okay. I looked at mine with a flashlight after I asked about your seals. I thought that there was a black seal in between the front and back door like in between the front door and fender. I guess you learn something new everyday.

Thanks again for all your help!

Hey y'all, I was looking at my truck tonight and realized that the trim seemed to go down towards the back. I made a fish hook with a fishing line for the measurements and it worked perfectly. Is what I did is hook it under the door and pull it up and then mark with tape. The trim is straight with the bottom of the door, but is not parallel with the hump and the gap between the hump and the trim gets bigger towards the back of the truck. Just wanted to see if this is the same on y'alls truck. Is the 18.5 centimeters consistent from front to back or is that just in the middle? Thanks again!
