1998 GMC Sierra Z71 upgrade advice

Recommended Posts

As stated above, Bilstein shocks. Good all terrain tires, a steering stabilizer/damper, and Cognito pitman/idler arm braces. I'd also look at getting Rare Parts tie rods. Also, Moog problem solver ball joints, and be sure to regularly grease all grease points

Any thoughts or opinions on the Bulletproof steering system? Overkill?

I'd call it overkill, unless big treads and angles of a lift.

those boxes are variable in that they work hard going slow, and loosen up to rpm.

a lot like old cadillacs or delta88s etc...

the back end also owns the front in many ways. getting the rear springs just right is a huge win.

I play with hellwigs, setting tension..but there is many ideas.

..and the gm ubolts. terrible. balkamp by napa is a winner.

poly cab mounts.. a must.

class 12 or 10.9 etc cab mount bolts. gm bolts are wimpy. (I have 4 swapped to breaking.. and one had to be cut out)

never going to break again.

front cross sill under the bed needs an enormous strength.

other than that.. beat the poop out of it.

I have come off a 23 mile trail, through a broken beaver dam..and sailed 75 miles an hour with the cruise on returning on the main roads.

slewing pebbles in the treads random.
