Gas in oil but NOT burning oil?

certified22

Question

Why would my oil smell gassy when I change it? Friend of mine poors the used oil on his trash in burn barrel, he said normally he has to hold his zippo on the oil he pored in for a minute or two to get if going good on fire. He poored the oil from my oil change on the trash and when he lit it up said it went up quick and was almost out of control for the barrel, so I have to assume if it walks like a duck talks like a duck there has to be gas in my oil, but how if I'm not burning oil is gas getting passed the rings but oil isn't?

It's an '04 .

If you're getting fuel in the crankcase, that thing is running pig rich. Possibly bad o2 sensor(s), or a failed injector or 2, bad MAF, or fuel pressure regulator issues.

Gas will easily flow past the rings, since it's viscosity is many times less than that of oil.

I would look at a leaky injector(s). Once you shut the engine off, if any injectors are leaking, they will dump the fuel that is under pressure in the fuel rail into the engine. It has to follow gravity and head to the lowest point it can get to. If the intake valve below the injector is open, it will allow the fuel to drain into the crankcase past the rings. Try getting one of those injector cleanings done.
