extra fob programming

Recommended Posts

Ok since I'm new here I hope I don't step on any ones toes. When I got my truck it only came with one key and one fob. So I got another of each and have had the key cut and programmed successfully but when I program the new fob it disables the other one. Sitting here scratching my head, why. any ideas?

It disables it because you need to actually program them both at the same time. Program one, then leave the key in the ignition and program the other. I had to do this with my 2010 Silverado and it took me a while to figure that out. They both need to be programmed in the same cycle.

Exactly what Justin said. I just recently ran into the same thing but finally did them both at the same time and bingo. My hardest part was fining someone to cut the key that I supplied but finally found an Ace Hardware that would do it and it cost just a $1.
