Chevy's Low Cab-Forward Medium Trucks Ready To Roll - Prices

GM-Trucks.com readers may remember that we published a preview of the Isuzu-manufactured medium duty trucks that GM will sell as Chevrolet models back in June of last year. Today, Chevy announced that they are ready to go and included prices in the announcement.

Called the 3500, 3500HD, 4500, 4500HD, 4500XD, 5500HD and 5500XD, Chevy's new trucks are offered in both regular-cab and crew-cab body styles. Engines offered will be a 6.0L V-8 gas engine, a 3.0L turbo-diesel engine, or a 5.2L turbo-diesel engine All come with a six-speed automatic transmission. Prices will start at $40,900 for the gasoline engine-equipped regular-cab including the $1,125 destination fee. Diesel trucks will start at $48,375. Chevy dealers with a focus on commercial vehicles will distribute the new trucks.

Chevrolet offered this list of features for the new trucks:
◾Excellent visibility and maneuverability – especially in urban environments
◾Easy driver entry and exit
◾Wheelbases ranging from 109 to 212 inches
◾GVWRs ranging from 12,000 lbs. to 19,500 lbs.
◾Compatibility for a variety of body types, including dry freight or refrigerated boxes, stake/flat beds and service bodies
◾Easy-access engine compartment with 45-degree-tilting cab

 

Commenting on the new low Cab-Forward medium duty truck line, Ed Peper, U.S. vice president, General Motors Fleet, said, "We know how important the total vehicle cost of ownership is to fleet customers to be successful in their work, and we believe these prices reflect some of the most competitive in the market when it comes to medium-duty trucks. The range of prices gives fleet owners an option that best fits their needs.”

Ford and Dodge should have made the tilt-cab option available on the 1-ton trucks so the mechanics didn't have to remove the entire cabs to work on them.
