Ordered a 2016 GMC 6.2 but stuck at 1100... Will it get built?

Recommended Posts

Hello from Florida! I finally registered after lurking about for the past month or so reading all about these trucks. I placed an order from my local dealership as a replacement for my beloved 2015 Chevrolet SS that GM is buying back. Needless to say it has had a number of problems with my SS and the last one being in the shop for 29 days. The dealership/service manager has been great about the process so I decided to stick with GM for another go around. I have ordered a 6.2 Z71 GMC CC with most options available. Currently I am two weeks to the day from my order date and it's been at event code 1100 since. Dealer assures that they have allocation but I have been down this road with ordering my SS in early 2015.

My question for the experts on here is: Since the order window closed on 4/21 for 2016 models are the orders at 1100 going to get produced? or do they sit in GM order purgatory until the dealer or customer withdraw it...

Thanks,

Ryan

Did your dealer order it as 'Sold'? What priority did the dealer set it as? What is the volume of the dealership?

I don't know who told you the order window closed on 4/21 but that's wrong. Mid-May is when GM will stop accepting orders.

It was ordered as "Sold" and I could not find the priority code on the work bench order sheet. My dealer has all brands Ford, Dodge, GM and seem to be a higher volume dealer since they were able to allocate the SS for me last year. From what I have found reading the forum and through ARI Fleet site that the 2016 order window ended o 4/21/2016 and the 2017 window opened 4/28/2016 per ARI site but this could be incorrect. Not sure what to think and just worried that if not picked up by GM then within the allotted timeframe then I would have to wait for the 2017's to start up. Patience is not a virtue of mine and just don't want to waste time if it's not going to get built.

• 500, this is a dealer stock order code used to order common vehicles. Please contact your dealer to receive an actual active order number.

• 1100, Preliminary order accepted (This means your dealer has entered your order into their system but does not mean they have the allocation to submit the order to GM yet. Speak with your dealer to verify when they expect to be able to submit your order for production)

• 2000, Order accepted by GM (This means the order has been submitted and accepted by production. You are now on your way.)

• 2030, Order re-edited (if necessary) (This is simply an edit code showing that something on your order has been changed. It does not mean your order has been accepted to production and really does not mean anything beyond your previous status other than a change has been made.)

• 2051, Order changed thru Web (same as above)

• 2500, Order preferenced (This means that the Order has been moved to the stage that parts department is now ready to place the orders for the components that will become your car)

• 3000, Order accepted by production control (This is the response from production to your 2500 status and is when Parts are actually ordered. No further changes can be made to your order once you reach this point.)

• 3100, Order available to sequence (This is more or less an inter-office memo from Parts to Production saying all parts are committed to this build, they are clear to sequence them for the build.)

• 3300, Order scheduled for production (This is the response to the 3100 status where Production is cleared to sequence and schedule the build) TPW usually avaiable

• 3400, Order broadcast (This is when the order is actually loaded onto the production line computers and parts are being staged for the build)

• 3800, Order produced (The vehicle is completed and has rolled off the line. A Vin is now available.)

• 4000, Available to ship (Vehicle is off the line and available to ship)

• 4104, Bailment Invoice (Shipping documents generated)

• 4200, Shipped (Vehicle has been moved by a carrier to another location or destination. If in combination with a 4300 status code then this is transfer to either a vendor for upfitting or to a distribution yard for final transportation.)

• 4300, Intermediate Delivery (In combination with a 4200 this is saying that the vehicle has been transported to a vendor or to a distribution center.)

• 4B00, Bayed (listed anytime a vehicle is sitting parked waiting for next mode of transportation. It can also be this status while in Quality Control)

• 4800 Rail Ramp Unload, end of the line by (if) rail. To be delivered by truck to dealer

• 5000, Delivered to the dealer

• 6000, Delivered to the customer

• 9000, Order Cancelled

Welcome to the forum, where in Florida are you?

I am in St. Augustine, FL.

You will get a 2017.

If that is the case then that could work as I would like to get the Tri Mode Steps but would much rather have a 2016 earlier.

I ordered my 6.2 on Monday 4-25-16. It was marked as sold. They said that their last day to order a 2016 is May 12th. I spoke with the dealer today and he said my order was accepted. I'm not sure what accepted he's talking about though.

Congrats and looks like we are in the same boat! Good to hear that there is more time for ordering too. The ARI site must be wrong.

I ordered a 2016 2WD CC LTZ on Feb 12th. I want to say I was stuck at 1100 for almost 3 weeks.

My Target week was suppose to be 3/21. But when my dealer checked on 3/14, it had already moved to 4200.

I ended up getting my truck almost 10 days earlier than projected when I ordered it.

My truck was unloaded at the dealership on 3/29.

You might try this if you don't like or trust the info your dealer is giving you.

There should be an option to open up a chat and check on the status of your order.

You need to have your GMWorksheet order number.

I did this with my Silverado on the Chevy site. They generally don't give you the "code status" but maybe if you asked they might give you the status number code that are listed above.

Whatever you do - DO NOT use http://gmconnects.com/

It used to have some sort of ties to GM but it does not anymore. I have seen people report getting spam emails and malware after registering there.

I just chatted on the Chevy website with a rep just to see what information they could give me. I asked about the status of my order. They said the order was accepted but no build date as of now. I then asked if that was a 1100 or 2000. They said it was still at 1100. I didn't expect much seeing as that I just ordered on Monday. I just wanted to see if they'd give me the status number.

If you just ordered this past Monday it cannot be accepted yet, the batch will not close out till midnight tonight EST. Your order will not be looked at by GM until Monday, see below. You won't know until late Tuesday (Weds realistically) if the order was accepted.

1100 Order Placed at Dealership, will not move unless dealer has allocation

DOSP - Dealer Order Submission Process

The weekly process consists of 4 stages.

1. Constraints Distribution - Dealers are informed on constraints to review before placing orders. (A Constraint is a limit placed on specific build configurations.)

2. Dealer Order Submission - Dealers can order on Thursday, Friday or no later than midnight on Saturday. (You can submit orders earlier but you don't know the constraints.)

3. The 4-Pass Process - GM will attempt to place each dealer’s orders on Mondays using a 4-Pass process. (At this point a dealer may get more or less than was allocated, if they asked.)

4. Dealer Review - You can review your placed orders for changes or replacements until Tuesday at 9pm ET. That's when the orders are sent to production control.
