TPMS readings for wrong tires?

Recommended Posts

Hey y'all.

When I check the DIC for my tire pressures, it shows the RF's pressure as the RR's pressure, and LF for LR.

Am I crazy? A buddy checked it with his tire pressure gauge and it showed they were in opposite positions too.

I mean it's under warranty, and I'll wind up taking it in, but is this something anyone else has seen?

Ya it's just from not resetting them after rotating tires. The first time I had mine rotated under the 2 year maintenance they didn't reset them so the fronts read the rear and vise versa. 2nd time I had it done they were reading in the right spots again. 3rd time I had it done at another dealer that's nearby and they reset them for me. When it's time for me to do all that myself again I'll either just buy a relearn tool or go by a shop and maybe they'll do it for free.

Sounds like they forgot to relearn when tires were rotated.

Not sure on new trucks to reset positions. It's in owners manual.

On my 2010 I have to turn key on, then press and hold lock and unlock on key fob. A few seconds truck honks enters relearn. Driver side front signal lit. Let air out of that tire until truck honks and pass side front lit. Move to that tire let air out, truck honks again continue around truck. After last tire is learn truck honks twice.

The K2s require a tool, but some say a strong enough magnet will do it.

2010 was the last year you could do this on the 1500's. My father in laws 2011 needs the tool.

The dealer never re-scans my tires either after a rotation. I usually do my own rotations so after it will be me doing it after on more dealership visit. I don't really care what the screen says about my tire pressure. I still check mine once or twice a month and add or take out air.
