2001 Jimmy Accelerates on its own

Recommended Posts

Gaskets have nothing to do with acceleration. Gaskets are for keeping water & oil where it belongs. Throttle cable & linkage need to be checked. It's possible that the throttle cable got stuck. Or possibly the ECM (engine computer needs reprogramming....Or depending on it's age... The ECM could just be going bad).... You can also try Googling for the web address for S-10 forum or Blazer forum. The Blazer & Jimmy are the same pretty much... You might also find a separate forum for Jimmys. Does it accelerate smoothly or surge? I'd check the throttle cable where it hooks up to the linkage first.

It accelerates smooth but very fast as soon as you turn the key, idles on the highway at 80klm per hour without touching gas pedal. Thank you for the advice will check throttle cable in morning.
