2002 2500HD 4x4

Recommended Posts

I am going to be rebuilding the front differential in my 2002 2500HD 4x4 very soon but I cant have my truck down for the entire time. I know that some hub/hub bearings are held by the axel and axel nut but are these the same? What I am trying to get at is, if I pull the front differential and axels, will they function as 2wd hubs or will they collapse?

You need to put at least the stubs from the CV axles through the hub's and torque the axle nut down. The axles hold the unit bearings together.

^^^ This. The hubs will collapse in short order without the stubs.

awesome. thanks. ill see if I can grab some junk ones from the u pull it this weekend and take them apart for it. I was pretty sure but I wanted to be sure. Will the 2wd hubs bolt in and be usable for the time being?

Idk if 2wd hub's would fit. The last 2wd Chevy I looked at was a square body that was lowered.
