Attributes of an SLE

Recommended Posts

I recently spent a week with my son's family in Texas. In his driveway are a 14 Silverado High Country and a fully optioned Yukon XL SLT. We covered many miles in both vehicles. They are both beautiful trucks, and I understand their appeal but it sure felt good to get home and in my 15 SLE. I considered my SLE to be pretty well equipped but was surprised how far it is from the top! When I read about Denali's with "Ultimate" added to the name, I think my truck has taken one more step down the food chain! It is hard to appreciate that the SLE package is considered pretty basic but I would rather spend my money on aftermarket upgrades than more interior luxuries. I believe the "lower" trim levels are not always a financial choice. I chose a 4X4 SLE with a leather interior for my "ultimate" truck. I would like to hear more forum members speak to "lower trim" choices as we seem to read a lot of Denali 6.2. threads.

I'll bite ;).

I will start with saying, I do appreciate what you get in the higher trim trucks. They are nice right off the bat.

However, knowing who I am and knowing I can't leave anything alone I found the LT to be the right truck for me. With the cash I saved by going with the lower trim, I am able to modify the truck to my liking. I wanted to put my own leather in the truck, and wanted to select wheels that I liked.

I can agree. I went with the LT silverado. It had the center console and navigation, heated cloth seats, etc. Coming from my 09 loaded slt this basically had the same things minus the leather and sunroof. The $6-7000 I saved versus getting the LTZ will allow me to build it like I want it.

Seeing how the Chevy LT is equivalent to the GMC SLE and the LTZ to the SLT, it came down to cooled seats not being offered in the SLE or LT. That's a feature I wanted, especially with black leather seats. Adding them aftermarket would be a PITA.

I am more than happy with my LT. The only extra cost options on it are a 5.3 engine and the All Star package, so the few things I needed (towing, rear view camera, 3.42 G80) are there, and I don't miss anything that might have been on a higher trim. To be fair, I went in shopping for the LS with Custom (a package in 2015) so the LT is actually a step up.

Meh, it's all personal preference. I really appreciate the Denalis and High Countrys. They are great trucks.

I got my Sierra SLE cause it had leather, heated seats, and 4x4 and now I can afford to add a few touches of my own. But I can certainly understand why somebody would want a loaded up truck straight from the factory.

Your truck sounds very similar to mine! Not too many years ago our trucks would have been considered fully loaded!
