2016 Tuning advice! Kory Willis or Idaho Rob? Or...?

Recommended Posts

Who do you think has a better tune for a stock 2016 LML?

I just got a 2500 6.6L build date 3-30-16. I have an EFIlive Blackbear AutoCal from my old 2014 1500 6.2L that I plan on using. I know I have to get another VIN license to make it work with the new truck.

I’m just looking for more MPGs and better response for now.

Thanks,

James

gallery_128508_4078_957626.jpgThank you, it is nice. I loved my 2014 Denali 6.2L. Great gas mileage to run so strong. I did the GM/Borla exhaust, Airaid intake and Blackbear AutoCal. Really helped that truck run! The Duramax is strong but not nearly as fast. I ended up getting the same color, cab and bed size.

Do a EFI Live tune that shuts down EGR. Simplest, most effective way to improve things. From my experience with several diesels, just turning off EGR via an ECM tune has the most bang for the buck in improving overall performance and increasing MPG.

Does the 6.6 have a Alison transmission? I don't see it on the hood. Looks like the 6.0 to me.

Get in touch Black Bear. Justin told me at one time they had connections with ATP "Idaho Rob" if you are not deleting. If you are going to delete down the road Kory or Motor Ops would be the ones to talk to.

Justin text me back saying they do swap between Blackbear and ATP Trucks. He did a great job in person on my old 6.2L and Idaho Rob did a good job on a friends older Duramax. At this point I plan on not deleting anything, but I'm sure it will be done one day. Here's a pic of my old Cummins! 742Hp/1340Tq

I would recommend Duramaxtuner.com

Duramaxtuner, atp (idaho rob), and ppei (kory willis) are the big 3 names.

I emailed them all the same day and duramaxtuner was much much quicker at responding. Duramax tuner also has very impressive tunes that keep all emission stuff functional (can do full delete as well). They seem to make great tunes without smoke which appeals to me.The post dyno videos, and even have a sled pulling truck still running emission equipment with zero visible smoke which I think is impressive and great for the industry.

PPEI was posting a bunch of political stuff on facebook awhile back which I thought was unprofessional and helped make my decision to go elsewhere.

ATP trucks is my 2nd choice but I was wanting to mail my ECM in and have them reflash it instead of wasting money on autocal and they were unable to do this. PPEI was willing to do it and if I remember right so was duramaxtuner.com

Depends on if you want to delete.

Idaho Rob has had GREAT results with emission compliant tuning. Nick at Duramax Tuner and John Kennedy have as well.

As far as deletes, I would go with Tony at Ridge Runner Performance.
