2015 Sierra Turn Signal switch replacement

Recommended Posts

Why bother with this kludge? Sears and other brands offer a mini ratcheting offset screwdriver that can handle any hex bit.

Thumb wheel and reversible ratchet make it a breeze to to remove and install fasteners in tight quarters, e.g. accessing wheel wells fasteners without removing the tires. And the knurled thumbwheel can be unscrewed for almost zero clearance on the bit

Instead of removing the steering wheel on a new truck, I cheated the bottom screw of the TSS by doing this.

I would have been surprised if the steering wheel needed to be removed to replace the signal lever. I'm glad you figured out a way prior to its removal! What did your dealer say when you asked them to cover it under warranty? I've never had a signal lever break in 45+ years of driving so if one did break, I would definitely attribute it to faulty manufacture!

Not any faulty manufacturing. I let a girl borrow the truck she never drove a truck before. Or any vehicle with a shifter mounted on the column. I told her to pull down the lever, and the TSS just snapped. Wrong lever. No harm really. It's a 20 dollar part, and I got a good laugh out of it.

Hi...i am a new user here. As per my knowledge it was the easiest switch to put in I've ever done. The dealer told me the steering wheel needed to be removed and a sensor for the air bag would have to be replaced, I called another one and was told the same thing but the price went from 400.00 to possibly 500.00. The dealers really hurt themselves when they stretch a job out like this, I would have felt better if they told me it was a fairly easy job and they could do it for the cost of the part and minimum of 1/2 hour labor or even 1 hr labor. There are times when I do not have the time or part and would pay if I felt they were treating me fairly. I took less than 10 minutes to do this and that was with getting a couple of tools out of my garage.
