TPMS with new wheels

Hey guys

I'm about to get some fuel maverick 20x9 wrapped in 33x12.5xR20 tires and I'm wondering if I need new TPMS sensors for the new wheels or can I use the old ones? My buddy who is going to be doing the labor for me says I need new ones because they won't fit 20" rims, but I just read a thread saying someone transferred his original ones to his new wheels (also fuel mavericks). So can somebody clarify for me?

Thanks

You'll be able to RE use the same sensors out of your older wheels. Shouldn't have to install new ones

^^^^+1 - Correct.

Thank you both. Is it a difficult process to reprogram them once I transfer them over? Something I need to take them to a dealership for? Or just pop them in and pump up the tires?

The process is in the owners manual.

But If you RE use them you should not have to RE program them I do believe.I would still RE calibrate though due to probably running different air pressure with your new set up if your going with a complete different tire and wheel ratio.

Ok that's what I figured. Thanks

And they need to be put in the same position so that the DIC reads them correctly.

Same position as in make sure the sensor is going on the same wheel like front driver side, rear passenger side etc?

Also will my speedometer be effected by larger wheels or will that self adjust?

^^^^Answer to first question is Yes.

Second - it's not the OD of the wheels that affect the speedometer it's the effect of the tire/wheel combo (IOW the OD of your new tires vs the OD of your old combo) and Yes the speedometer will be affected and No it won't self adjust.
