2007 Silverado Classic chirping/squeaking noise from differential area

Check the fluid level? Might be time to open it up and see what's in there.There should be a magnet at the bottom of the diff,check it out to see if there are any noticeable metal bits on it.Look at the teeth on the gears,they should be nice and smooth.Check for lateral or vertical movement of the diff,shouldn't be any.How are the wheel bearings?

My HD had chirping from rear diff also.

After checking all above, I found heavy rust on pinion housing rubbing the seal guard on the yoke. Chipped it out with seal pick etc.

No more chirping from the pig now for me.

It is a single aluminum shaft. front joint appeared good (no slack) and was aftermarket clean fairly recent install by former owner? I guess,still could be bad. The noise seems to be coming from the rear. I OK UT it on stands and ran it in drive to about 45 mph...no noise. It seems that it must have to be on the road for it to occur.
