Well, construction has commenced on our new garage/Mancave! It's a 42x28 fully enclosed building by Eagle, and will feature an ammunition reloading bench, small lounge area, and a model railroad room! I will keep posting updates as they become available

It has begun! They have completed the skeleton of the building, and have started putting on the skin! After it is completed, we will proceed with insulation, Drywall, and have a friend who is a lineman for a local power company set the weather head, the meter box, and the breaker box for electricity!

I work for BNSF, and it amazes me how much you train guys know pertaining to track history and structure! I could stand to learn from some of them!

That is the thing when you go to recreate something in miniature; you study the real deal in immense detail to make an accurate replica; hell, some of the brass models are so detailed, you swear that they had a shrink ray, and shrunk the real thing!

Any specific reason you went with an aluminum pole building rather than concrete block and wood?

We chose a metal building for the quick construction time; took 2 days with a crew of 5.

The first room has been framed, and has the load center installed! And we just got back from Lowe's with the lumber to start framing the other room, as well as the passageway that will connect the two rooms together! Tomorrow we will go down to the local electric company to begin the paperwork to run a line from the pole to the building!

The second room is framed, the back wall of the passageway is up and secured, and the first half of the front wall of the passageway is in the process of being constructed! (I pretty much nailed the whole front wall with the nailer we borrowed from a friend, it's made this part go MUCH faster!)

Just finished up for the day; the passageway is nearly complete! All that needs to be done is the ceiling for the passageway at 8 ft; the 2 ft between the passageway ceiling and the top plate will be for the future HVAC ductwork, and then the rest of the space from the top plate to the roof will be utilized for storage!
