2003 Silverado 2500 HD 8.1 (496 cu in) Oil Cooler Lines Leaking

Recommended Posts

Anyone know the part number for the oil cooler lines for the 2003 8.1 engine? I can not find those listed in anywhere in the GM parts sites. They all seem to be listed for the 6.0 engine. Are they the same part?? I have a small leak where the hose is crimped to the aluminum section. Is this the correct one?? http://www.ebay.com/itm/ACDelco-15203890-Oil-Cooler-Hose-Assembly-/252374571360?hash=item3ac2b25960:g:LuMAAOSwj0NUkzmt&vxp=mtr

Thanks for any of the help in advance.

Yes I have, but they are not clear as to which ones fit the 8.1L. nor, if they are separate lines or the manifold shown in the attachment which includes both lines. RockAuto is hard to return the wrong parts to! You have to file a claim, then with the return authorization, pay for shipping back to recover what you paid for the wrong part. That whole process can take a month, in addition to the lost shipping back charge!

I did find out, it has two separate lines which apparently is unlike the 6.0L of the same year. The 6.0L seems to have the two lines attached to an manifold that bolts to the block. RockAuto has a verity of individual hose assemblies with different part numbers with different lengths, different bends for both the feed & return line. I think the best solution would be to remove the leaking hose, and take it to NAPA for a match. I hate waiting for two weeks @ RockAuto to return a wrong part, then place another order, which also may be the wrong part, and eventually go through the whole process again. I was hoping someone here has been through all this same sheit with the 8.1L engine. :banghead:

I have replaced them 2 times on my 2003 crew cab long bed 4x4 8.1l once in 2009 and just a month ago, in 09 I had the dealership do it for 600$ and this time I had a friend do it with dorman hoses part#s 625-304,625-303 for parts and labor it cost me 300$ Both times they were just seaping but didn't want to run the risk of hose failure.hopefuly those part # help out some

  • 2 weeks later...

I just checked on amazon you can get both hoses for around 80$ just find a good shop to insall and your good to go

Thank you very much! I was hoping that someone with the exact same engine/experience could reply. That was exactly the info I was looking for! I also have just a very small leak, but want to do preventive maintenance to stop any potential problems. Labor is no problem for me, my son is a Caterpillar, hydraulic, truck & automotive expert. :)

Just out of curiosity, did the Dorman lines seem like they were of good quality? I'm looking ahead at doing my brake lines sometime probably in the next year or so...I like the Dorman stainless line set. Are they good quality?
