5.3 loud click

I have a 05 suburban with the 5.3 and i have about 213k on it and recently it started making this loud clicking noise and it goes with the rev but it comes and goes it could click for an hour long drove sometimes it will click for a min or 2 and then u wont hear it for a long time ive been told its a bad valve or lifter but wouldnt the sound not go away so please if anyone has any advice please let me know

Yea ill do that its coming from the drivers side somewhere. It sounds like the top side somewhere

Exhaust manifold gasket or broken bolt, maybe?

Sounds like Piston slap, my 2001 silverado did the same thing! it's caused by having cylinders that are too short for the stroke of the piston so when the piston either goes into the compression/exhaust stroke the piston will smack the inside of the cylinder walls! Fortunately it is not catastrophic to the engine as I was told by the GM techs at several dealers I went to in search of why it made that noise!

That would come and go tho. Its weird because i was just driving it and it was normal but started tapping really loud at a light and as i was driving for about a mile it was tapping and now it stopped i dont get it

I would try to pinpoint where the click is coming from.

Maybe get a mechanics stethoscope, keep it in the truck and check when it happens.
