Virginia Dealership / 3weeks into transmission rebuild / no end in sig

Recommended Posts

My son is in Virginia doing his job. "Over" 3 weeks ago, the transmission failed on his

2014 Silverado and is still under warranty. For 3 weeks, he has had to "rent" a vehicle

from this same dealer. One of the rentals left him on the side of the road for half a work

day. He lost half a days work. We have owned GM and I mean ONLY GM products all my

64 year old life. My wife and 2 sons have only owned either GMC or Chevrolet trucks just

as I have for 46 years. This is the Third Transmission we have had to have rebuilt, first for

this truck he has now. All have been 700R4's I believe is what they call them.

I NEED HELP SENT HIS WAY. I DON'T KNOW THE DEALER'S NAME RIGHT NOW BUT I

CAN GET IT. *************AND**************FOR THIS REASON, I WENT YESTERDAY AND

BOUGHT A BRAND NEW DODGE RAM. I PLAN ON NEXT WEEK TAKING MY WIFE'S

2014 GMC TERRAIN AND BUYING HER WHATEVER SHE WANTS WHETHER IT BE A

FORD, DODGE, OR FOREIGN VEHICLE..YEAH AMERICA. IT AIN'T THE VEHICLES, IT'S

THE SORRY PEOPLE THAT """DON'T STAND BEHIND THEM""""

CAN ANYONE ADVISE ME WHO I NEED TO CALL

OR CONTACT TO GET MY SON'S TRUCK FIXED AND

HAVE THAT DEALER REPREMANDED!!!!

Thanks,

Father of a 24 year old responsible young man who is paying $500.00 mo. payment for nothing and having to

rent a vehicle on top of that.

This thread is funny, you have owned GM vehicles all your 64 year life and the others for 46 years and get one with a problem and he jumps ship and buys 2 non GM vehicles with no problems and his son has 1 with a problem makes me wonder why he is on his 3rd trans but that one stays in the family, strange.

If you really want to contact someone at GM there is this book in your vehicle called a owners manual that has these phone numbers in them, call them and find out why your son has gone through 3 transmissions. Have fun.

Sounds like you have a dealer problem. They should be putting in a new or rebuilt transmission, not fixing the one that came out of the truck. It's much faster and cheaper to replace the transmission and send the core back than it is to rebuild it. As someone else said call the number for Chevy/GM thats in the owners manual.

Stuff fails on all manufactures new cars/trucks all the time. They are made by humans and we all make mistakes. Thats why there is a warranty on new vehicles. I sure hope GM is footing the bill for the rental car. If not they should be and that alone is a reason to call GM customer service.

FYI... The 700R4 hasn't been in production sine the early 90s.

You bought a Ram. That shows serious lack of judgement. Ok, so you are trading in your good GM vehicles yet chose to keep the GM lemon in the shop? Earth to Glen! Why not keep the Terrain and trade in the lemon Silverado? Problem solved.

#1-Yes, I bought a Ram and have not looked back. #2 My judgement is based on fact, not fiction, experience not ignorance, my wallet not yours, #3 If you were really an intelligent person you would realize what you said. Yes I chose to keep the Silverado in the shop """with the transmission on the shop floor in pieces""rather than hire a rollback travel to Virginia and pick up those pieces, bring them back home to the Ram dealership, where I would not have a running driving truck to trade in. """""Earth to 'the killer OJ, put your brain in gear, (if you can find

it in all that mush), before you put your mouth in motion. LASTLY, I WAS ASKIING FOR HELP NOT SMART A-- RESPONSES FROM PEOPLE

LIKE YOU.

First of all, you can't count or you didn't or can't read. Clearly states "first for this truck". That means I have 2 others that have had rebuilds

recently. Again, where did it say I bought 2 non GM vehicles? Show me. Your statement and I quote ""wonder why he is on his 3rd transmission but that one stays in the family"" end quote! Please read above response to OJ Simpson and with me being over 300 miles away, I think I explain it in good order. And yes, my son does have an owners manual, and yes he has contacted the regional GM Rep. who's main objective is to stand in line at the end of the week and pick up his check, not as the dealership the simple question, why haven't you gotten this man's truck fixed 2 weeks ago? AND IN RESPONSE TO WHY MY SON HAS GONE THROUGH 3 TRANSMISSIONS, WHERE IN GOD'S GOOD NAME DID YOU READ MY SON HAS GONE THROUGH 3 TRANSMISSIONS??????ARE YOU ILLITERATE, OR JUST LIKE OJ, YOU JUST DIDN'T READ THE MESSAGE.......I OWN 6 VEHICLES, ALL BUT 1 BEING EITHER GMC OR CHEVROLET. SOON TO BE 1 CHEVY, 2 GMC'S

1 DODGE AND WHATEVER MY WIFE AND SON IN VIRGINIA WANTS. AFTER ALL, I AM 64, AND I GOT MONEY.

Oh I did forget one thing. The reason I am keeping the one Chevy is because it is sitting behind the shop with a broken transmission.

Thank you so very much for an intelligent answer. Everything you say is true. None of my vehicles are used to pull anything heavier than a

lawn mower or 4 wheeler. I don't understand why some people jump to respond rather than read the message. I need help with this dealer.

I was told by the dealer we bought it from that the regional "now called customer service representative" that travels around to the dealerships

to try to help both the dealer and customer resolve issues is a different man than the one that comes here. My hope was to have someone

in Virginia that has had a similar issue, whether it be transmission or motor, who knew exactly who to contact to get some immediate action

going. After all, One of the transmissions that I had to have rebuilt was sent 35 miles in the opposite direction from my house to the dealer

for a private transmission shop to rebuild, but, it was back in my yard, and brought to me on a rollback by the dealer I bought it from fixed.

You get problems with all makes of vehicles, but, this is definitely a dealer problem who needs to have a fire built under his butt. Also, so

the bashers know, this is a 5.3 two wheel drive that has never seen anything but pavement. Thanks again and if there is anyone out there

who has info such as a name or phone number that deals with """"THE DEALERSHIPS""""please respond, and if you can't help, don't waste

your time being a smart a--

Ok enough of that! Back on subject.

Without my knowledge, my son's boss left early Monday morning and traveled to Virginia to the dealership. This man purchases through the company over 200 Chevy Silverado's in the southeast region. He gets a "free" Silverado of his choice every year. He talked to the dealership

without getting any satisfaction when he got there around noon. They were putting work on his truck off as "new" dealer sales were being

prepped. He made one firm call to his salesman in Columbia where all these trucks are delivered and my son got his truck back yesterday

afternoon WITH A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION. NOT A REBUILD OF THE ONE HE HAD IN THE TRUCK. Thanks for your involvement

and attempt to keep the subject on track as it should be. I again will thank Jay P for his help. In a round about way, what he advised did

happen but JUST HAVING A STROKE ON JULY 5, I COULD NOT MAKE THE TRIP UP THERE. I HAVE JUST GOTTEN OUT OF THE HOUSE

FOR A WHILE YESTERDAY AND SAT ON THE FRONT PORCH. I AM VERY WEAK BUT WITH GOD'S GRACE, I WILL SUFFER JUST A

SLIGHT AMOUNT OF PERMANENT DAMAGE.

A couple of years ago I posted a fix for overheating on my 2003 z71 I owned as a spare vehicle at the time. I have already this year

gotten 3 people send me messages of thanks for this fix and my post. I can't count just how many people since the post that have done that. That's what forums in my opinion are for. To help. If you can't help a man, leave and go on to another you can help. We put over 100,000

miles on a vehicle (except for the lady of the house) before we think of getting rid of it. My son's truck had 98,900 miles on it with only 1100

miles of warranty left on it. It will be parked behind the shop and possibly sold later in the year but for the mean time, it will be his choice of

what he wants. My decision to buy a Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 with the high output Cummins Turbo Diesel was made due to the fact that we

have had 3 in the last 5 years that the transmissions just didn't hold up. Since Chevy left the Turbo 400 they have been plagued with

transmission problems. The GMC Hybrid 6.0 I traded in for the Cummins had the Turbo 400 and never had a minutes trouble with it. The

2 trucks behind the shop are a 1990 GMC K5 Jimmy with a Turbo 400 and still runs like a top. The other is a 1991 Chevy K5 Blazer with the

700r4 that is broken down. Transmission just quit without warning. Didn't mean to get in to all that but a little history on why a person makes

decisions he makes always helps others understand why he makes them.

Thanks again

Glenn
