Question
magusti
I have an '05 Silverado VHO with the much talked about steering column knock. I recently purchased a new upper intermediate steering column shaft and it is supposed to be the improved design, as I understand it. It is GM part #19329330. This shaft has what I'd describe as a clip inserted into the hollow end of the shaft. I have seen this referred to as a "stabilizer clip". I don't know if that is correct. The clip is not symmetrical. If you were to rotate the shaft 180 degrees when installing it, the clip orientation is different. See the attached image of the end of the new 19329330.
Two questions:
Is the orientation of this clip important when I install the new shaft?
Do you recommend replacing the plastic column bearing (bushing?) at the same time?
